How do I log steps on a stair machine?
Set the exercise to Reps & Time and pick Steps in the Count picker. Each set then takes the steps and the time from the machine's screen.
Stair Climber, Stairmaster and Step Mill count steps and time when you first use them. One you already logged, or added to a routine, keeps the boxes it had, and the exercise editor can switch it.
To switch it, tap the pencil at the top of the exercise screen to open the editor. Set Log Type to Reps & Time, and the Count picker below it offers Reps, Steps or Floors on any cardio exercise. Steps is the one that fits a stair machine, and each set then takes the step count and the time from the machine’s screen.
Steps logged with a time add to your daily steps and can move a road you are walking in Journeys. When your phone or watch counted the same climb, Kinoku keeps the larger number for that session, so the climb counts only once. On the Steps screen these steps show as Logged on a machine, and they stay on your phone rather than going to Health Connect.
A set with no time adds no steps. Floors stay floors and add no steps either, and neither choice counts as reps or as lifted weight, so a long climb leaves your training volume as it was.
