Built for real training types

One private app,
three clear lanes.

Kinoku does not ask lifters to act like runners, or runners to live in a bodybuilding logger. The app is broad on purpose, and each lane still feels like home.

01 Lane I

For lifters

Fast set entry, RPE and RIR, a muscle map, and routines. Plus warmups, plate loading, PR tracking, and program planning, all in one place.

  • + Log every set with set types, rest timers, notes, and progress
  • + A muscle map, stats, achievements, and rewards built around your lifts
  • + Program templates, volume targets, readiness, and Elite Analytics depth
02 Lane II

For runners

Kinoku treats outdoor runs as a core part of the app. You get GPS tracking, splits, a fitness score from your runs, pace zones, heatmaps, and routes you can share.

  • + Offline GPS with splits, pace, climb, a route map, and heart rate
  • + Run Analytics, Zone Training, a route heatmap, and watch sync
  • + Cycle notes, readiness data, and coach run tips
03 Lane III

For hybrid athletes

Kinoku keeps your lifts, runs, steps, recovery, custom metrics, and calendar in one private record.

  • + A training calendar, planned workouts, scenes, and Smart Today tips
  • + Flex Metrics, steps, Pulse, and health data in one daily view
  • + Challenges, rewards, and share cards that span gym and cardio

What the app proves

Depth, not just talk.

The site leads with the systems the app ships: daily logging, cross-sport tracking, real planning depth, sharp share output, and choices that keep your data yours.

Make the app fit you

Themes, motion feel, scenes, Daily Pulse, Smart Today, nav setup, language, and custom metrics keep the app yours.

Pay for depth, not for basics

Free covers core tracking and the base Form curve on the Coach screen. Pro adds Run Analytics, calendar plans, Quick Log, and Volume Landmarks. It also adds forecast lines on the Form curve. Elite adds the Training Load screen, readiness, race times, Form curve notes, and the smart layer.

The work is public

The changelog and roadmap live right here on the site. For an app built by one person, steady progress is the clearest trust signal there is.

What you will not find anywhere else

Only in Kinoku.

Three things Kinoku ships that no other consumer fitness app does. The research is there. Other apps chose not to build it.

Built on real research

Built on the science.

Every engine-driven number in Kinoku comes from named, citable research. Tap any panel for the formula, the parameters, and the source studies.

A real look

Captured from the live app.

Every screen below is a real on-device shot against a full training history. Nothing is faked.

Reference library

Training, explained well.

Deep articles on the science behind Kinoku's biggest features. Sources at the bottom, methods on their own page, no hedging.

Make it yours

Nineteen themes. Tap one.

Each theme ships its own colors, shapes, motion, and even haptic feel. Pick one below and watch the sample card change.

Ownership is the core promise

Your data stays
with you.

There is no Kinoku account to make and no required cloud to join. Workouts, metrics, photos, and plans live on your phone. Health Connect stays in the Android health stack. Export exists because leaving cleanly is part of trusting the app.

Stays on device

Workouts, sets, RPE, notes
Stored in kinoku_db/workout_sets. Read by repositories only. Backed up to a file you save when you initiate a manual export.
Routines, programs, plans
Stored in kinoku_db/routines, planned_workouts, routine_exercises. No remote sync at any time.
Progress photos
Stored in the app-private photos directory at filesDir/photos/. Sandboxed at the OS level; other apps cannot read them.
GPS routes, splits, heart rate
Stored in kinoku_db/route_points, run_analytics. Routes never auto-upload. Map tiles render at view time only.
Cycle data (separate DB)
Stored in kinoku_cycle_db, a second SQLite file. Excluded from Google Auto Backup via res/xml/data_extraction_rules.xml. A regression test fails the build if the rule ever drifts.
Pulse history, achievements
Stored in kinoku_db/pulse_scores, achievement_unlocks. All scoring runs as pure Kotlin on your device.
Themes, scenes, settings
SharedPreferences and kinoku_db/scenes. Never serialized over the network.

Leaves by your action

Health Connect, when granted
androidx.health.connect.client. Requires an explicit permission grant per data type in Android system settings. Data stays in the Health Connect store; Kinoku reads it locally.
Social Bets, when joined (PRO)
Firebase Firestore plus anonymous auth UID. Payload is bet metadata only: workout count, streak count, tonnage totals. Raw set data, exercise names, and photos never travel.
Play Billing token, for purchases
Google Play BillingClient. Receipt and anonymous subscription token only. Google sees what you bought; Kinoku does not see your Google account.
Weather context, opt-in only
Open-Meteo. Coordinates rounded to ~1.1 km before any request. 200/day defensive rate limit. 4-second timeout. Off by default; you flip the toggle.
Map tiles, while a run is active
CARTO basemaps and OpenTopoMap. Tile coordinates and your IP reach the tile provider while the map renders. No tile is cached for offline use.
Backup file, where you save it
User-initiated. The ZIP file is written to whatever path you pick in the system file picker. Kinoku does not upload it anywhere.
Share cards, where you share them
Android system share sheet. You choose the destination app. Kinoku never uploads share images directly.

Never collected

Account, email, name
No signInWithEmail, signInWithGoogle, or password-reset path in the binary. The only auth is anonymous, used solely by Social Bets opt-in.
Contacts, SMS, call log
No READ_CONTACTS, READ_SMS, or READ_CALL_LOG permissions in AndroidManifest.xml. The permissions are not declared at all.
Advertising ID
No play-services-ads dependency. No AdvertisingIdClient calls anywhere in the codebase. The library is not in the binary.
Background location
No ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION permission. The foreground LocationTrackingService only runs during an explicit GPS run you start.
Microphone outside voice log
RECORD_AUDIO is requested only when you tap the voice quick-log button. The mic is released the moment the session ends.
Cross-app browsing data
No QUERY_ALL_PACKAGES permission. Kinoku cannot enumerate the other apps installed on your device.
Body composition for ads
Per architectural absence III, no ad SDK exists in the binary. There is nothing to send body-composition data to.

Built in, not promised

What Kinoku will never do.

Some app behaviors are missing as a policy choice. These four are missing because the hooks do not exist in the app at all. Each one is locked in at the build level, not just a values page.

Built-in absence · I

No account system

There is no signup, no email field, no password reset. Firebase Auth ships only in anonymous mode for the Social Bets opt-in, and only fires when you join one. The app has nowhere to put your identity.

Built-in absence · II

No required cloud sync

Your training record lives in SQLite on your phone. The two opt-in cloud parts (Social Bets and opt-in weather) are limited in scope and kept apart from the core app.

Built-in absence · III

No ad SDK in the app

Not "no ads for now." There is no AdMob, no Unity Ads, no Facebook Audience Network hook built into the APK. Adding ads would need a new dependency, a new permission, and a new release.

Built-in absence · IV

No training-data sale

DREAM SOFT DISTRIBUTED EOOD is the data controller. Selling training data is not part of the model, because no Kinoku server holds training data to sell.
