What this feature looks like in the app

Exit-friendly product design

Import and export are here because owning your data is a feature, not a slogan.

What it is

Two things matter here. You can make a real backup of your data that you control. And you can bring in your old training history when you switch apps. You will not have to type in years of workouts by hand.

Backup

  • Save it all to one file. Go to Settings, then Backup, then Export. This saves every workout, photo, routine, and personal best. It comes out as one ZIP file. (A ZIP is just a folder squeezed into a single file.) Keep it where you like: Google Drive, a USB stick, your own drive, or your inbox.
  • A spreadsheet for each kind of data. The ZIP holds one CSV file per data type. (A CSV is a plain table you can open in Excel.) This lets you look at your training your own way.
  • Move to a new phone. Install Kinoku, go to Settings, then Backup, then Restore, and pick your file. That is it.
  • Auto backup too. Android can back up Kinoku’s data to your Google account on its own. Set up a new phone with that account, and your data comes along.

Bring data in from other apps

Switching to Kinoku from another tracker? The importer can read:

  • FitNotes: exercises, sets, routines, and workout history
  • Strong: the same
  • Hevy: the same
  • Your own CSV file. A step-by-step screen helps you match each column to the right field.

The importer rebuilds your exercise list and links each set to the right exercise. It keeps your dates and personal bests. It even looks at your past workouts to spot your routines, so you do not have to build them again.

Why this is free

Trapping your data inside an app you cannot leave is a bad deal. Kinoku does the opposite on purpose. Come in for free, and leave with all of it in a plain format, no questions asked. That is what “your data, your device” really means.

Try it for yourself.
