What does Weight is per hand do?

Turn it on for lifts where you hold two dumbbells or kettlebells and log the weight of one. Your volume then counts that weight twice.

Weight is per hand is a switch for lifts where you hold two dumbbells or kettlebells and log the weight of only one. With it on, your volume counts that weight twice, so the pair adds the volume you really lifted.

  • Volume records count the pair, but weight records and your one-rep max use the weight you typed.
  • Only sets you log after you turn it on count twice.
  • Sets you logged before keep their volume, even if you turn the switch off later.

The switch is in the exercise editor under Tracking metrics. It shows only for Resistance exercises with added weight whose equipment is a dumbbell, a kettlebell or a cable, so a barbell lift does not have it, and neither do bodyweight and assisted moves.

Exercise editor with Tracking Metrics set to the Weight & Reps log type and Barbell equipment, below the Mobility and Prehab type options.
